Updates

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is John Miller. Either I am your World 1 teacher this year or I have the pleasure of instructing your son or daughter this year. I apologize for the separate page but I find this much easier.

I apologize as the website is not complete, as of yet, but feel free to look around and get acquainted with the page. My goal with this page is to give the students as much freedom to learn the material their way. Of course school assignments are mandatory but this website strives to give students choices and take control of their own learning.

All of my class updates will be located here in this box. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me an email at during school hours or for a more immediate response.

I look forward to challenging you to become a life long learner.

Units
Human Origins

This is the very first unit of the year. We go back all the way to the first humans. We discuss the river valley civilizations, and research the early empires. We also investigate the origins of both monotheism and polytheism.

Classical Civilizations

This unit during November and December, covers Greece and Rome. Geography is extremely important to this unit but we will also investigate the origins, politis, expansion, and decline of both these empires.

Postclassical Civilizations

We covered this unit during January and part of February and it covers the Byzantine Empire, Medieval Europe, and Islam. We will look at each individually and then look at the interactions in the next unit.

Regional Interactions

This was the last unit of the year and it covered all of the third quarter. It includes Asia, Japan, the Americas, and the Renaissance. This unit tries to tie up as many loose ends as possible. We end with the year 1500.
